Muravera and Castiadas, 82 baby turtles have been born and have reached the sea.

At Muravera, on the Colostrai beach, 25 baby turtles have reached the sea. Meanwhile, at Castiadas, on the Cala Sinzias beach, a total of 57 have reached the sea. This is the result of inspections by the staff of the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area at two Caretta caretta nests identified along the southeastern coast, in the territories of Muravera and Castiadas. The inspections were carried out with CRES biologists and with the support of the regional network for the conservation of marine fauna and the Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps officers from the Villasimius Naval Base and the Villaputzu Station.

The first nest was discovered on Colostrai beach. A total of 78 eggs were laid inside, 30 of which hatched. Of these, 25 baby turtles managed to reach the sea, while five were found dead inside the nest. During the nest inspection, 36 intact eggs and 12 damaged ones were found, thus completing the monitoring of the entire nesting process. As the Marine Area explains, considering the specimens that reached the sea, the emergence success rate was 32.1%.

The second nest, located on the beach of Cala Sinzias, also contained 78 eggs, of which 62 were found to have hatched. The inspection confirmed the presence of two live baby turtles inside the nest, which were recovered and released at sunset, as well as five dead individuals. Ten intact eggs and six damaged ones were also found. A total of 57 baby turtles reached the sea, with a 73.1% success rate.
