Schools, associations, citizens, and institutions are coming together to try to mend relationships and social relations. In Mulinu Becciu, the Community Educational Pact was signed, a project launched a year and a half ago that involves 23 local organizations with the goal of building a stable network around the neighborhood.
"People feel alone, isolated, and a little forgotten," says Marta Chessa, vice president of the Panta Rei Sardegna social cooperative, which coordinated the project supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna. "Concrete needs have emerged: social spaces for young people, connections between people, and the need to reunite the neighborhood. The goal is to promote the well-being of the community without leaving anyone behind."
The pact was signed not only by organizations and associations, but also by citizens, families, and children. Among the signatories was the University of Cagliari, joining a Community Education Pact for the first time. "We believe the university should be increasingly present in the community," explains Pro-Rector Fabrizio Pilo. "Especially in areas with the highest school dropout rates, it's important to be present and build grassroots learning pathways."
For Councilor Giulia Andreozzi, the priority remains the school's role in the neighborhood: "The school must return to being a point of reference for the community, and the local area must contribute to supporting it." After the signing, the neighborhood celebrated with music, basketball, and shared activities in the public spaces of Mulinu Becciu.
