Astronomitaly has identified a new magnificent destination where you can go to see the stars and do astronomical tourism: the Hotel Abi d'Oru in Porto Rotondo.
Located in front of the splendid Marinella Beach, the hotel is increasingly characterized as a destination that believes in sustainable and responsible tourism, deciding to join the Astronomical Tourism Network as a certified location among the Most Beautiful Skies in Italy not only because of its position sheltered from the city lights, but also because it believes in a form of slow and authentic tourism where any natural beauty must be protected and preserved, just like the starry sky.
To celebrate the release of the I Cieli Più d'Italia certification, Astronomitaly and the Hotel Abi d'Oru have organized a calendar of unmissable events - open to all guests, including external ones, upon reservation - for astronomical observation with the telescope, at key moments in the summer season, taking advantage of particular dynamics of the starry sky.
It begins on June 22, with the celebration of the Summer Solstice, in which the spring season gives way to the summer season not only from a meteorological point of view, but also astronomically, passing through the night of the Milky Way; the night of the Perseids cannot be missed, known as the night of San Lorenzo on August 10, while September 14 will be the night of Saturn.
During all the appointments there will be 2 Astronomitaly guides and 2 professional telescopes, to experience the observation of the stars and the night orienteering sessions, in addition to the photography sessions of the planets visible via smartphone. All this while sipping "stellar" drinks created by the bar manager Marcello Cabiddu.
The appointments:
June 22 - The Summer Solstice Festival
July 29 - The Night of the Milky Way
August 10 - The Night of the Perseids
September 14 - Saturn's Night
Before stargazing, you can book a pieds dans l'eau dinner at the Marinella Restaurant and then lie down on a cushion and listen to stories about the Milky Way while observing it.
«During the inspections we were able to literally follow the blossoming of the starry sky not only from the outside, but also from the rooms - explains Fabrizio Marra, Founder of Astronomitaly. An extraordinary element here is the great sensation of openness towards the sky with large panoramic windows placed to frame for you the spectacle of the earth, the sea and the sky. Here the sensation is of being closer to the sky, it is possible to see the movement of the stars from your bed thanks to the large windows while from the large outdoor terrace of the Grazia suite, for example, you can appreciate the enchantment of the Milky Way on the sea. In the early hours of the morning comes the spectacle of dawn with the sun emerging from the sea coloring the entire surrounding landscape. From the Marinella beach it is possible to observe the Andromeda Galaxy rising from the sea with the sound of the waves and the biodiversity present in the nearby lake. The vast garden of the hotel is also a fantastic location for observation, with a large portion of the sky visible. A little gem is the pool area, which transforms into a real natural observatory, where you can enjoy an authentic star bath."
