In Sardinia, the demand for mortgages for home purchases remains stable, with an average request, in the first five months of the year, of just over 126,900 euros .
The average age of applicants is decreasing, from nearly 42 in the first five months of 2025 to 41 in 2026, while the average value of the property being mortgaged remains stable, reaching €183,675.

"Looking at the type of interest rate requested, fixed rates remain the preferred rate among Sardinians, but the share of those opting for variable or mixed rates has risen significantly, rising from less than 1% to 5.9% of the total in twelve months."
Provincial trends. Analyzing mortgage applications received in Sardinia in the first five months of 2026, local differences emerge. Cagliari is the Sardinian province where the highest average amount was requested between January and May 2026 (€133,842), followed by Sassari (€123,313) and Nuoro , with €113,753.
