Mixed patrols made up of carabinieri and French gendarmerie have been seen around Cagliari for a few days. In fact, an international cooperation initiative has been launched between Italy and France , which sees the police forces of the two countries as protagonists.
"This collaboration - they explain from the Army - falls within the scope of the bilateral agreements signed by the respective countries, with the aim of strengthening public safety in the main tourist locations during the summer season".
The mixed patrol will operate in the areas most frequented by tourists and where the greatest influx of French citizens is expected .
«The French agents will assist the Carabinieri in carrying out their institutional functions - the Provincial Command further underlines -, facilitating the exchange of police information relating to the presence of tourists. French operators will help facilitate contacts between French tourists and local police authorities, as well as consular authorities, all to ensure that tourists can enjoy their holidays with peace of mind."
