More than two years have passed since the week that transformed Montiferru into hell. The time that has passed, rather than alleviating the wounds, has put an end to the life of many agricultural companies. Others, in order not to go bankrupt, have taken on heavy debts. It is also, if not above all, the fault of the missed refreshments . Now the process for receiving compensation could be at a turning point.

«Only today the Region», explains Coldiretti Oristano, « approved the resolution that gives the green light to the delimitation carried out by the Laore agency (last April 11th) of the territories in which a reduction in agricultural production potential beyond 30% has been ascertained % effectively unblocking the process to distribute the 2.5 million euros allocated as compensation to companies and to rebuild the agricultural structures damaged by the event".

In particular, companies in the olive sector and other fruit tree crops would receive a maximum of 1548 euros per hectare, while those in the wine sector up to 8474 euros per hectare.

An important step, but one that arrives with timing that cannot make one smile completely: «Although satisfied with the step forward», underline the president and director of Coldiretti Oristano, Paolo Corrias and Emanuele Spanò, « we point out once again how much the delays of administrative and political action negatively impact the very life of our businesses : the fires occurred between 23 and 30 July 2021 and only a part of the compensation actually reached the companies in the sector in the past years, while other equally important resources are still struggling to arrive. Although important", they conclude, " the solidarity that has arrived from the territory in recent years is not enough to allow companies to recover from those serious damages suffered, we expect that the efficiency of the public sector, fundamental to supporting our local realities, will finally grow" .
