Three want to plea bargain, one has opted for the conditional abbreviation, while top manager Massimo Temussi has made himself available to be questioned in front of the judge before formalizing the choice of the rite. In the meantime, however, the public prosecutor Emanuele Secci has requested the committal for trial of 30 of the 34 defendants who appeared yesterday before the preliminary hearing judge of the Cagliari Court, Luca Melis, linked to the “Monte Nuovo” investigation, the investigation by the DDA of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the ROS of the Carabinieri which hypothesizes, for nine defendants, the accusation of having formed and promoted a mafia-type association aimed at committing crimes against the public administration.
The preliminary hearing
Alessia and Alice Deidda (defended by lawyers Herika Dessì and Pier Andrea Setzu), as well as Marco Zanardi (assisted by Roberto Capra), asked for a plea bargain. Thomas Littarru, on the other hand, chose with his defenders Carmelino and Laura Fenudi to propose a conditional abbreviated trial. For all the others, the public prosecutor Emanuele Secci completed his discussion with the request for referral to trial. The request is also valid for Temussi, assisted by lawyers Stefano Porcu and Gaetano Scalise, but he made himself available to be questioned at the next hearing, thus leaving open the possibility of requesting an alternative trial.
The protests
In the previous hearing, the Health Protection Agency (Ats Sardegna) had appeared in court - with the lawyer Matteo Pinna - against the head of pain therapy Tomaso Cocco, Giorgio Carboni and, indeed, the health manager Temussi. Nine are the suspects who are charged with the most serious crime, that of mafia-style association: in addition to the doctor Cocco, the former regional councilor Gabriella Murgia and the rector of the University of Sassari, Gavino Mariotti, but also some well-known names of the criminal past, such as Nicolò Cossu (known as Cioccolato), Tonino Crissantu, Giovanni Mercurio, Antonio Giuseppe Mesina, Battista Mele and Paolo Murgia. Among those investigated for minor crimes are Alessandro Arca, Giorgio Carboni, Maurizio Vito Cossu, Andrea Daga, Alessia, Vincenzo and Alice Deidda, Antonio Fadda, Mario Antonio Floris, Giuseppe Paolo Frongia, Anna, Salvatore and Raffaele Gioi, Marco Lai, Tomas Littarru, Antonio Marteddu, Riccardo Mercuriu, Serafino Monni, Desiderio Mulas, Marco Muntoni, Antonio Michele Pinna, Alessandro Rocca, Paolo Sale, Marzo Zanardi and, precisely, the manager Temussi.
