They attempted to escape by forcing a Carabinieri blockade: two people arrested . Yesterday, the Carabinieri of the Quartu Mobile Radio unit, together with officers from the Sinnai, Monserrato, and Selargius stations, arrested two men suspected of resisting a public official and receiving stolen goods.

The operation began along Highway 554 in Monserrato . The officers were conducting targeted searches following the theft of a car the previous night from a garage in the Cagliari area. The turning point came when the Carabinieri spotted the vehicle with the two men inside in a parking lot along the highway. As soon as he realized the officers were present, the driver accelerated sharply in an attempt to clear a path, but the reckless maneuver ended with him crashing into the patrol car, which had been positioned to block the escape route.

Despite the impact, which caused damage to the vehicles and minor injuries to a Carabiniere (who was later treated at a medical facility), officers managed to immobilize the two occupants and secure them. The recovered car was returned to its rightful owner. Escorted to the offices of the Quartu Radiomobile unit to complete the necessary paperwork, the two men, a 51-year-old and a 30-year-old, both from Cagliari, unemployed and already known to the police, were arrested and placed under house arrest at their respective homes by order of the Judicial Authority, pending the summary hearing scheduled for this morning.
