The Gramsci Hotel School in Monserrato is closed due to rats. The order was signed this evening by Mayor Tomaso Locci, who complains that he wasn't informed earlier of the presence of "pests," as he calls them, inside the building. The measure will be in effect until October 21st. Meanwhile, specialists from Proservice will be at work, attempting to eradicate the rats.

"The Gramsci Institute is owned by the Metropolitan City, and until October 15th, it was believed that authority had jurisdiction over health and hygiene matters. For this reason, no official document had reached me before that date," Locci explains.

The day before, "sensing the gravity of the situation that was developing and wanting to ensure concrete assistance to the students and the school, I personally went to the school principal. There, I suggested sending an explicit request for closure to both the mayors of Monserrato and Cagliari, so that they could proceed with the relevant investigations. On October 15th, that official request arrived, along with all the documents relating to the situation."

The emergency nature of the situation "made the mayor's intervention necessary. As soon as I became fully aware of the documents and the legal legitimacy of the measure, I ordered the closure without delay. The health of students and school staff is my priority. As soon as I confirmed jurisdiction and received the documents, I wasted no time in ensuring the safety and health of students and school staff."
