Ten people were arrested by the Cagliari Guardia di Finanza as part of the maxi-operation coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia and Counter-Terrorism Directorate of the Public Prosecutor's Office to dismantle the Nigerian criminal organization specialized in money laundering, human trafficking and exploitation of prostitution.

These are five men and five women, aged between 30 and 60: nine ended up in handcuffs on the island, one tenth was captured by the flames outside the region. Half were taken to prison, while the other half were sent to house arrest.

The measures were carried out in Cagliari, Olbia, Decimomannu, Iglesias, Quartu Sant'Elena and Quartucciu.

According to what was ascertained by the investigations, the "Sardinian group" was at the top of the organization and was involved in using the Nigerians even in the high regions involved in the blitz, which led to the arrest of 40 people overall.

To kick off the investigation, the testimony of a Nigerian woman who ended up in the network of compatriots, who found the courage to denounce the harassment to which she had been subjected.

As part of the investigation, the military also identified six hawala centers in the province of Cagliari, meeting points that gang members relied on to send money from illegal activities abroad.
