His request for international protection had been rejected. So the 30-year-old foreigner, originally from the Ivory Coast, hosted at the Monastir Reception Center went on a rampage, threatening guests and operators armed with a knife. The episode dates back to Monday morning, when the operators of the Office for Immigration and Foreigners requested the intervention of a crew of the Flying Squad because the man was responsible for an alleged robbery armed with a knife.
The young man, after learning that his request had not been granted, attacked those present. He then reached the accommodations on the third floor and, after entering a room, took possession of a cell phone, threatening another guest with a knife who asked him to return the phone. Finally, he locked himself in a room, threatening those present with the knife. When the police arrived, he tried to escape but was stopped and safely disarmed.
The personal search allowed the recovery of the stolen cell phone and a knife with a serrated blade. The Ivorian was arrested for the alleged crime of robbery, aggravated threat, injuries and resisting a public official. He is now in Uta at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
