A large marijuana plantation was discovered today in Monastir by the Carabinieri, who arrested six people aged between 21 and 42, believed to be responsible for the production and possession of narcotic substances.

The operation, conducted by the Carabinieri of the Quartu company with the support of the "Sardegna" Helicopter Squadron and the Dolianova company , is the result of an investigation launched by the military of the Sestu station. The investigation was triggered by the suspicious behavior of one of the arrested men, already known for previous involvement in marijuana plantations.

After days of shadowing and surveillance, the Carabinieri identified a rural area of Monastir where a veritable "drug industry" had been set up, with seven operational greenhouses. During the operation, the officers caught the suspects tending, cutting, and packaging the plants.

The seizure involved approximately 9,000 marijuana plants, 90 kilograms of inflorescences and buds—11 of which were already packaged—6 kilograms of ground leaves, 2.5 kilograms of kief, and extensive specialized cultivation and packaging equipment. During the searches, one of the arrested individuals was found in possession of an additional 1.88 kilograms of marijuana.

Those arrested were transferred to Uta prison, pending the judicial authorities' decision. The Carabinieri of the RIS in Cagliari are continuing their technical and scientific analysis of the seized material.
