Last Saturday the Moby Ale 2, the ship of the Tirrenia-Cin shipping company owned by the Onorato brothers, resumed sailing regularly on the Genoa-Porto Torres line. The French authorities have released the ferry, which was stopped in the port of Ajaccio on 26 June while it was in service on the Genoa-Ajaccio-Porto Torres route.
The former Bithia of Tirrenia had been subjected to a precautionary measure requested by Siem, a Norwegian group that owns the German shipyards of Flensburg which built the Maria Grazia Onorato, another company ship stopped in the French port in May. The dispute arose following a clause included in the agreements between the shipping company and the shipyard.
The seizure of the Moby Ale 2 had become a diplomatic case in particular due to the inconvenience suffered by the passengers, 650 people on board and tons of goods stuck in the port. The regional transport councilor Barbara Manca took action to ask for immediate interventions by addressing a letter to the Italian ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport, Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini, and to the Italian ambassador to France, Emanuela D'Alessandro.
