"The wind farm called "Nuoro Sud", the one under Mount Gonare, is a consensus. Yes, because I believe that there is not a single person in favor of that project", says the mayor of Orani, Marco Ziranu. "We will oppose this imposition in every way. We are open to dialogue and energy transition, but not there and in those ways". A cohesive community. Orani rebels against those wind turbines that no one wants, much less so close to that symbolic place. So, after the well-attended assembly on Friday evening, in the morning a stand is set up to collect signatures for the Pratobello 24 law. Just a few meters from the Marian sanctuary.
Shared thought
"We say stop to energy speculation because we are faced with an imposition: the population has not been involved in any way", thunders Antonio Lombardo, a sort of spokesperson for the newly formed Orani committee that opposes what they define here as "an unprecedented devastation, to be stopped at all costs". The project, with a total power of 66 MW, could devastate an enormous valley between Orani, Orgosolo and Nuoro. Lombardo continues: "Here we are faced with a speculation that devastates the earth, that upsets an entire landscape that should be respected with its flora and fauna. Furthermore, it disturbs history, religion. I repeat, it is devastation, it is not good at all".
The Governor
"Tomorrow we will meet the president of the Region, Alessandra Todde", says Ziranu. Maurizio Fadda, of the Nuorese Committee against energy speculation, concludes: "We say only one thing to politics: they must listen to the people more. The many signatures obtained with Pratobello 24 demonstrate this. The Sardinians want to be listened to".
