Sardinia will be swept by the mistral, with gusts that could exceed 100 kilometers per hour: on the exposed coasts, waves of up to eight meters could be generated. And there will also be a drop in temperatures, which could also bring snow at high altitudes.
A stormy Friday is expected in Sardinia, according to the forecasts of the regional Civil Protection: an alert has just been issued for adverse weather conditions linked to wind and storm surges.
"The European synoptic situation is characterized by the presence of a cyclonic system of North Atlantic origin with closed lows both on the ground and at altitude on the Scandinavian peninsula", the bulletin reads, "whose trough deepens up to Spain, and a high pressure field that extends from Africa to central-eastern Europe. Starting from the next few hours", the forecast is, "the trough associated with the depression system will deepen further towards the south-east until reaching central-northern Italy tomorrow morning giving rise to a closed low both on the ground and at altitude".
Consequently , "from the early hours of tomorrow until late evening, Sardinia will be affected by strong winds from the west north-west, with reinforcements up to a strong storm on the western and northern coastal strips and on the major reliefs. The phenomenon will be accompanied by storm surges on the exposed coasts".
