The Ministry of the Environment has approved an agrivoltaic system that will extend over an area of approximately 52 hectares (49,336 panels) in the Sassari countryside. The company Asja Nurra Srl will be able to install the panels in the La Corte area, approximately 8 kilometers southwest of the Porto Torres industrial area.
The company assures that the owners of the agricultural businesses currently carrying out agricultural/livestock activities on the land affected by the plant are currently interested in continuing their activities in synergy with the electricity operator, and therefore "it is the latter's intention to entrust the carrying out of agricultural/livestock activities to these businesses. In any case, it is understood that during the useful life of the plant, these entities may be replaced by other agricultural businesses."
During the environmental permit process, which began in June 2023, the regional Department of the Environment emphasized that "the impact assessments of the project must take into account the high concentration of plants proposed in the area affected by the project."
It's unknown whether the objection was taken into consideration. Certainly, the potential invasion of panels in the area wasn't considered a common problem.
