Million-dollar tax evasion for a restaurant in southern Sardinia, huge fine

A company that operates in the catering sector in a well-known location in the south-east of Sardinia, and which has long operated as a “total tax evader” .

This is what emerged from inspections by the Guardia di Finanza of the Muravera branch and the Cagliari Labor Inspectorate, which uncovered millions of euros in tax evasion. The limited liability company had taken over the lease of a structured business without formalizing a contract, thus failing to declare revenues of nearly one and a half million euros , evading VAT by hundreds of thousands of euros.

There were also irregularities in the hiring of workers. Over the last five years, the company has employed 80 workers, who were formally employed by another cooperative . Inspections were extended to this cooperative, which found an improper association between the nominal and actual employers.

Both companies were fined up to 60 thousand euros .
