Favorable sea conditions have facilitated migrant landings along the coasts of southern Sardinia.
On Sunday alone, 46 arrived from North Africa, all men: three are minors.
Almost all of the landings were recorded in the Sulcis Iglesiente area, while a small boat with ten people aboard was intercepted by the Coast Guard off the coast of Cagliari. The migrants were transported to port and then handed over to law enforcement. All 46 were transferred to the Monastir reception center where they were examined and identified.
Adding to the issue of internal security at the center is another: many residents, trying to escape, cross State Road 131 on foot, climbing over the central reservation, and then travel by public transport or scooter. Reports are multiplying: as the CSA fills up, this phenomenon is becoming increasingly frequent.
