Tensions are rising again at the Extraordinary Reception Center on Via Tharros. Another serious incident occurred today, and the situation is now at its worst: a violent brawl between five young foreigners . All were treated by emergency workers, and each has been reported.
At the CAS on Via Tharros, the atmosphere is now heated, and arguments often erupt among residents of different nationalities over trivial matters. This is exactly what happened today, when harsh words were exchanged and then physical contact ensued: kicks, punches, and violent blows that prompted the staff to call the Carabinieri . Within minutes, the Mobile Radio patrol arrived on the scene and restored order and calm. Meanwhile, emergency services were called to provide first aid to the injured youths.
Just about ten days ago, a delegation of residents of the CAS on Via Tharros showed up at the prefecture to demand more dignified living conditions (they were without hot water or electricity). The prefect immediately took action to find a solution.
