€15 million from the Region for the Metropolitan City of Sassari. Allocated in 2025, the funds will be used for three infrastructure projects presented at a press conference this morning in the Sala Bizantina of the Provincial Palace by Mayor Giuseppe Mascia, Director General Giovanni Spanedda, and Vittoria Loddoni, Director of School and Non-School Buildings for the Authority. The first concerns the Cultural Center and the urban regeneration of the former Police Headquarters and the former State Archives, to be completed with a €14 million funding. "An area at risk of degradation," Mascia stated, "located in the heart of the city center, where the second complex of the Figari Art High School is planned."
A project "of provincial proportions," the mayor calls it, which, in addition to the educational aspect, could also include a guesthouse and spaces to accommodate out-of-town students. "It will be a school," Loddoni reports, "designed with all the parameters of the new millennium, including energy efficiency." The program is now in the technical and economic feasibility stage and will soon enter the negotiation process. "There will be 375 students distributed across 15 classes," adds architect Andrea Garrucciu, "3,800 square meters for the boarding area and 2,000 square meters for the school area." It is now unclear whether additional funding will be needed because, Loddoni specifies, "the bill of quantities was drawn up with 2022 prices and, in the meantime, costs have risen."
The other project concerns Alghero and the €600,000 completion of the gymnasium at the Costantino Art School/high school complex and its integration with the Maria Pia municipal sports complex. The last project involves the redevelopment of a property in Benetutti, in the spa area, to be converted for tourism purposes. Cost: €400,000. "This is the first project as a Metropolitan City, and others will soon follow," emphasizes the mayor. The main challenge, however, is attracting ideas. "We need to equip ourselves with a pipeline of projects to access funding," concludes Director General Spanedda.
