Telephone numbers listed by the Region and Local Health Authority (ASL) are inactive. First aid stations that appear to be open are actually closed. Or at least not operational. This happens when trying to contact emergency medical services, from north to south of the island, both those for residents and those dedicated to tourists and open in holiday resorts.

The exercise is empirical. What emerges is a bittersweet conversation: the right to healthcare is systematically denied. Armando Bartolazzi, just two weeks ago, blamed the emergency on the past. "Doctors," said the regional health minister, "are in short supply throughout Italy, and not just today." In practice, access to healthcare is not governed, even though that should be the responsibility of politicians .
