Maxi marijuana plantation in Santu Lussurgiu: a person with a criminal record arrested
Over 900 plants discovered: the suspect was caught while irrigating the rows.More than nine hundred marijuana plants (904), between 60 and 110 centimetres in height, irrigated by a drip system fed by a well with a submersible pump, were discovered by the Carabinieri of the Oristano company in a rural area of Santu Lussurgiu: a person with no criminal record ended up in handcuffs.
The plantation was identified thanks to an air cooperation service between the personnel of the "Cacciatori di Sardegna" helicopter squadron of Abbasanta and the Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Cagliari-Elmas.
The arrested man, now under house arrest, was caught watering the plants, which were sent to the RIS in Cagliari for an initial investigation: the tests confirmed they were drug-grade cannabis and contained an active ingredient in THC exceeding the legal limit.
The man will have to answer for production of narcotic substances for the purpose of dealing.
