The city administration's decision to restrict business hours during Mastros in Nuoro 2025 next weekend is generating discontent and concern. According to many, the decision risks penalizing artisans, merchants, and food service businesses that contribute to the event's lively character each year.
The issue was raised by Francesca De Ambrosis, a Forza Italia city councilor, who submitted an urgent question to the Mayor and the City Council, seeking clarification regarding the decision to bring forward the closing times for exhibition spaces and activities, set at 9:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 PM on Sunday. According to De Ambrosis, these are highly restrictive times, even compared to previous editions, which could reduce visitor numbers and negatively impact the businesses involved.
In the question, the councilor asks the Administration what the technical or safety reasons were that led to this choice, whether there was a prior discussion with operators and trade associations, and whether the Administration is willing to review the decision or grant any exemptions to allow the event to fully express its potential.
"Safety and public order are fundamental values," De Ambrosis emphasizes, "but they can be guaranteed without limiting such an important event for the city, which represents a showcase for artisan excellence and a significant economic driver for Nuoro."
The councilor therefore invites the Municipality to engage in genuine dialogue with all stakeholders, with the aim of identifying a more balanced and shared solution.
"Mastros must be a growth opportunity for everyone, not a missed opportunity," he concludes.
