Moments of fear this evening around 8:00 PM on State Road 131, at kilometer 78, towards Cagliari, near the Marrubiu junction. A car, a Ford Fiesta, caught fire for reasons still being ascertained. It all happened in a few moments.
The driver, seeing the smoke coming out of the engine, immediately stopped, allowing the passengers to get out of the vehicle just before it was engulfed in flames. The Carabinieri and a team of firefighters intervened on the scene.
During the operations to turn off the car and make it safe, there were severe slowdowns in traffic in the southbound direction. But also some slowdowns in the northbound direction due to the curious who stopped to understand what was happening. For the driver and passengers no damage, if not a lot of fear. The car however was completely destroyed.
