In one night the most beautiful pages of the Opera and, on the same stage, the best performers in the world accompanied by high-level musicians. There will also be a bit of Sardinia at the Verona Arena during the concert which will celebrate Italian opera singing as a World Heritage Site, with a live broadcast broadcast by Rai 1 worldwide on Friday 7 June.
Among the members of the orchestra, made up of 160 members, there will be Andrea Piras, double bass player and director of the "Alessandra Saba" civic music school in Marrubiu and double bass player in the orchestra of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari. The evening is promoted by the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Arena di Verona Foundation. Riccardo Muti will conduct the orchestra, in the largest open-air theater in the world .
Andrea Piras represents the Foundation of the Cagliari institution. For him this is another important milestone, after having played with various important orchestras such as that of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma and the Regional Orchestra of Tuscany. The event will be broadcast live worldwide from 8.30pm: «I am honored to participate in this great event, I am proud to represent my theatre, I am very happy to be able to play and re-embrace so many friends and colleagues who I haven't seen for a very long time».
Three different narrators will present the evening: Alberto Angela, Cristiana Capotondi and Luca Zingaretti. Among the performers on stage are the sopranos Anna Netrebko, Eleonora Buratto and Mariangela Sicilia, the tenors Galeano Salas and Jonas Kaufmann, the baritones Nicola Alaimo and Luca Salsi and the ballet star Roberto Bolle.
