Three hundred and fifty marijuana plants, between 80 centimeters and 1.4 meters tall, in full bloom and irrigated by a cascade system fed by a cistern hidden in a nearby sheepfold.

These are the numbers of the plantation discovered in the Nuraghe Crasto area, in the Ghilarza area, by the Carabinieri of the Oristano provincial command, with colleagues from the local company and the "Cacciatori di Sardegna" helicopter squadron from Abbasanta, with the support of the helicopter of the Carabinieri unit stationed in Elmas.

The operation was conducted on September 26th and resulted in one arrest. This is the fourth plantation identified by the Carabinieri in the Oristano area in recent weeks.

The crop, after being identified thanks to a discreet observation service carried out by the Sardinian Hunters with the support of a helicopter, was monitored and, given the state of the plants now close to being cut down, the raid was launched.

The suspect was caught near a sheepfold, inside which the cistern was found connected to a system of pipes that, through various couplings, which could be dismantled if necessary, transported water to the plantation.

The plants were sent to the laboratory for an initial test, which revealed an active THC ingredient far above the legal limit.

Marijuana was seized from the arrested man at the end of the operation

As per the order of the Oristano Public Prosecutor's Office, he was placed under house arrest. He will face charges of producing and cultivating narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Further investigations are underway to identify possible accomplices and the distribution channels.
