The prizes for the 2024 edition of "Sardo 100%", assigned to excellent products originating from the island, were awarded during the "Sardinia Food Awards".
The awards were given to the constitutionalist and professor of Public Law Institutions at the School of Architecture, Urban Planning and Construction Engineering of the Polytechnic of Milan, Maria Agostina Cabiddu, and to Marco Buttu, engineer from Gavoi, today still in the Italian-French station in Antarctica for the study of ice.
There was a great presence of Coldiretti's excellent agricultural companies, awarded at the Sardinia Food Awards, as the president and director of Coldiretti Sardegna, Battista Cualbu and Luca Saba, recalled from the stage.
Maria Agostina Cabiddu was the Sardinian 100% Coldiretti 2024, «because the defense of the fundamental rights and laws of civil society also involves her daily work. His dedication and commitment are an inspiring example for new generations in safeguarding the beauty of nature and tangible and intangible heritage." She is a leading figure in the Italian legal panorama, appreciated both for her academic rigor and for her professional and civic commitment. One of Cabiddu's texts was chosen among the tracks for the first written test of the 2024 high school leaving exam.
Marco Buttu was on video link from the station in Antarctica where he is on his third mission. Researcher from the National Institute of Astrophysics (Inaf) has now entered the heart of Antarctica, one of the coldest and most inhospitable places on the planet: the Dome-C site on the Antarctic plateau. He also became a social star where he posted excerpts of his life in the "Concordia" station, where life is very similar to that on the international space station. Buttu received the Coldiretti Award «for having brought Sardinia, literally to the edge of the world. His passion for science took him to the limit, among the ice of Antarctica, with extreme temperatures. Thanks to his work he will allow great discoveries and information for humanity. Courage and perseverance are his success and a source of pride for our entire region", as Coldiretti president and director wanted to underline on the award plaque.
The ceremony was part of the Sardinia Food Awards, the showcase organized by Donato Ala with various partnerships to support the many island agri-food excellences. Obviously there was no shortage of those from Coldiretti to once again strengthen «a well-structured circular economy not only to promote environmental sustainability but also to improve the competitiveness of businesses - says Cualbu - an example set by our companies which continue to excel in Italy and around the world."
«In an increasingly globalized market, Sardinia needs effective tools to promote its products and stand out from the competition - Saba recalls - the Sardinian companies that participated in this year's event have once again demonstrated their commitment to preserve and innovate the agri-food traditions of Sardinia".
