Marco Cappato in Cagliari: «Sardinians also want a law on assisted suicide»
The Treasurer of the Association Luca Coscioni: «The Region should approve it as soon as possible, it will give certain times and procedures to those who need it»In front of a packed room in Grotta Marcello, in Piazza Yenne in Cagliari, this evening Marco Cappato held a rally on the issues of end-of-life (also known as assisted suicide), gestation for others, abortion, the legalization of soft drugs and other issues that the Luca Coscioni Association , of which Cappato is treasurer , has always fought for. «Sardinian citizens also want a regional law on assisted suicide», said Cappato, «I hope that the ruling class of the Region will approve it as soon as possible, since they have said they are available to do so. The law will serve to give certain times and procedures to people who need to resort to assisted suicide».
The event, entitled "Let's Take Our Rights", was also accompanied by a stand to collect signatures for "Liberi subito", the proposal to regulate assisted suicide at a regional level, and for "My voice, my choice", the popular European proposal for legal and safe abortion. The stand was chaired by the Sardinian cell of the Luca Coscioni association, which together with the Cagliari cell organized tonight's event. Tomorrow, at 10:30, Cappato will be in the Region where, on the second floor of the Regional Council, there will be a press conference dedicated to the proposed regional law no. 59 on healthcare assistance for assisted suicide, first signatory Roberto Deriu, leader of the Democratic Party, with the majority groups and on the proposal of the Luca Coscioni Association.
