Tragedy yesterday in Geremeas, where a 79-year-old Neapolitan tourist died of an illness while on the beach.

The man was on vacation in a tourist facility on the coast. The alarm was raised by family members and other swimmers.

The arrival of an ambulance from 118 was useless, the operators were unable to save the man's life. The carabinieri of Maracalagonis were also on the spot: the magistrate ordered the removal of the body, which was immediately returned to the family for the funeral.

The victim is Professor Ugo Criscuolo , a very famous Greek scholar from the Federico II University of Naples, residing in Castellammare di Stabia.

Professor of Greek Literature at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, he was also director of the Department of Classical Philology "Francesco Arnaldi" and taught at the universities of Macerata, Palermo, Genoa and Messina.
