A month and a half extension has been granted to complete the investigations into the biological traces found on the clothes of Manuela Murgia, the 16-year-old found dead in Tuvixeddu in 1995. The RIS's request for more time (in addition to the 80 days allowed) to complete the comparison of the genetic profiles found was granted by Preliminary Investigations Judge Giorgio Altieri, who, for this reason, will postpone the date of the preliminary hearing, already scheduled for early October. The judge also authorized the sampling of DNA from the young woman's ex-boyfriend, Enrico Astero, now 54, who is under investigation for voluntary homicide . It will be compared with the profiles found on the clothes.

Approximately 80 traces were found on Manuela's clothes , and about twenty of them are currently being typed to determine whether they can be used for comparison. Only two are currently usable: a female genetic profile (perhaps from contamination) and a male one (a hair), which will be immediately compared with her ex-boyfriend's profile .
