A forward-looking project built on deep roots, rooted in the history of connections and mobility in the area. The municipal administration of Mandas is taking a decisive step toward the creation of an intermodal transportation center, thanks to a total investment of €1.5 million already available in municipal coffers. Mayor Umberto Oppus announced the news, emphasizing the symbolic and strategic value of the initiative: "For nearly 140 years, Mandas has fought to become a railway station. For centuries, it has been a stop for stagecoaches and omnibuses, now buses. This project represents a new chapter in the history of our community."
The agreement was signed in Mandas together with the regional councilor for transport, Barbara Manca, and the sole director of ARST, Giovanni Mocci. This step was also made possible by the approval of the Single Programming Document (DUP) in the city council, with a majority vote in favor. The future intermodal center aims to integrate rail and road transport, strengthening the town's role as a strategic hub for mobility in the region. This infrastructure aims to improve connections and foster local development, in line with a vision that emphasizes efficient services and the enhancement of existing networks.
