A man arrested last month on charges of assaulting and injuring a person in the municipality of Ozieri has been issued a DASPO. The order was signed by Sassari Police Chief Filiberto Mastrapasqua, reaffirming his commitment to protecting public safety and urban decorum in the province of Sassari.

The DACUr. (Prohibition of Access to Urban Areas) preventive measure, also known as the "Daspo Urbano" (Urban Daspo), was adopted against a man arrested on May 24. The measure, issued at the request of the Ozieri Public Safety Commissioner, formally bans the perpetrator from accessing and staying in public establishments in the town of Ozieri for three years. The man, in fact, after spending the morning at some bars in the town center with a friend, who was probably drunk, had started a violent argument with the latter, causing him facial injuries . The victim was forced to quickly flee on foot, abandoning his car at the scene. The suspect then took possession of the vehicle and the cell phone left inside , driving to his home in a peripheral area of Ozieri, where he set the vehicle on fire. Only the immediate intervention in the area by patrols from the Ozieri Police Station and the Fire Brigade prevented far more dramatic consequences, preventing the fire from spreading to the surrounding Mediterranean scrub.

The man was arrested red-handed by officers from the Ozieri police station, in collaboration with the Carabinieri, for the crimes of robbery, damage followed by arson, and for violating the provisions of special surveillance. After validating the arrest, the judicial authorities had already issued a precautionary measure prohibiting him from approaching the victim.
