The safe contained weapons and ammunition. The thieves likely knew the owner's habits well, and on Saturday evening, knowing he wasn't home, they entered through the garage and stole the small arsenal belonging to a pensioner from Mamoiada.

The gang loaded the safe into their car, where the sixty-year-old man was keeping a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun, a 7.65 pistol, and 100 rounds of ammunition, 50 for the pistol and the rest mixed with bullets and the rifle. The weapons and ammunition were legally held. The thieves fled, taking with them a GPS device used to locate hunting dogs.

The Carabinieri of the Nuoro command, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, are investigating the assault .
