A turning point in the investigation into the murder of Marco Mameli , the 22-year-old from Ilbono killed on March 1st in Bari Sardo , in Ogliastra, during a carnival celebration in the square.

This morning, State Police officers arrested a 27-year-old man, Giampaolo Migali, from Girasole, on charges of murder.

Immediately after the incident, Migali accused himself of wounding Andrea Contu, 26, also from Ilbono. This occurred during the argument between young people that culminated in the killing of the 22-year-old worker. Migali was taken by officers from the Nuoro Flying Squad to the San Daniele prison in Lanusei.

According to the Lanusei Prosecutor's Office, Migali killed Marco Mameli on the evening of March 1st, stabbing him three times, one of which was fatal, and on the same occasion injured another young man.

The investigation was conducted by the Flying Squad of the Nuoro Police Headquarters, assisted by the Tortolì Police Station, the Cagliari Forensic Police, the Cagliari Carabinieri RIS, and specialized personnel from the Arbatax Financial Police.

The collection of evidence, the Prosecutor's Office explains, was based on the acquisition and subsequent analysis of images taken from video surveillance cameras near the murder site, from technical and scientific investigations, and from witness statements.
