The eyes of organized crime on the island, tourism and real estate sectors at riskVideo di Matteo Vercelli
Organized crime and mafia associations are not present in Sardinia but they set their sights on the Island to invest and launder the money earned through various illicit activities. For this reason, the level of attention must be maintained high. And to do so, new tools are needed and above all a collaborative network between the judiciary and law enforcement agencies. Thus this morning, at the headquarters of the Prefecture of Cagliari, the regional conference of the Public Security authorities was held, with the signing of the protocol for the strengthening of the investigative action of the Inter-force Anti-Mafia Groups established in the Prefectures.
In the hall in Piazza Palazzo were present all the prefects and police chiefs of the Region, the regional and provincial heads of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. The protocol was then signed by the prefect of Cagliari Giuseppe Castaldo, those of Sassari Grazia La Fauci, of Nuoro Alessandra Nigro, of Oristano Salvatore Angieri, by the Attorney General of the Republic of the Court of Appeal of Cagliari, Luigi Patronaggio, and the Attorney of the Republic of the Court of Cagliari and Head of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, Rodolfo Maria Sabelli.
"In Sardinia," explained the prefect of Cagliari, "we have no particular indicators of the presence of mafia organizations or infiltration. However, attention must always be high." There are sectors at risk: tourism and real estate are more under the magnifying glass of investigators. "With the protocol there will be greater collaboration and sharing of information that can be analyzed in order to adopt possible anti-mafia prevention activities."
Patronaggio also highlighted an important aspect : «Creating a system that means exchanging news and information, circulating that news that can be developed either in an administrative or judicial setting». Under particular control are «the investments that are made in Sardinia, to prevent that behind these investments there may be hidden infiltration of organized crime, especially the continental one and, at the same time, protect the resources of the PNRR».
