The security guard who was injured this afternoon by a man outside a market in Piazza Crispi in Olbia is in serious condition.

The victim of the attack, after being transferred to the emergency room of the John Paul II Hospital, was taken by helicopter to Sassari for emergency admission to the Santissima Annunziata civil hospital.

The attacker, a 26-year-old Tunisian national with dozens of aliases, known to law enforcement, was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of attempted murder. The military is attempting to reconstruct today's dramatic events to identify the motive for the violence .

The man entered a massage parlor on Via del Lidi armed with scissors and suddenly and for no reason attacked a Chinese woman who was inside (fortunately, the young woman has already been discharged from the hospital in Olbia).

The protagonist of the afternoon of madness then moved to Via Crispi and, again for no apparent reason, seriously injured the security guard. His final stop was a bar on Via Roma, where the man killed a poor dog before being subdued by the Carabinieri. The sequence, in its manner, has points of similarity to violent acts by radicalized individuals ('lone wolf' attacks), but investigators have currently ruled out this possibility.
