Macomer: Vandalism at market stalls and racist insults during the mountain festival

Stalls were damaged and items on display stolen in a nighttime raid during which racist shouts were chanted.
It happened during the night between June 12th and 13th, during the celebrations on the mountain in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua.
Several stalls run by Moroccan or North African citizens, which were set up along the path leading to the top of the mountain, where the sanctuary is located, were targeted . Some stalls were overturned and several items were stolen.
It all happened after midnight, with a group of young people unleashing hell . The stall owned by a young man of Moroccan origin was damaged, and all the items for sale were stolen.
Someone alerted the police, who located and identified a group of young people, some from Macomer, but also from neighboring towns. Investigations began immediately. Some of these young people were identified by the Carabinieri and reported to the judicial authorities.
