After ten years of excavations , where the history of Macomer and Sardinia is kept, the results are finally known.

Everything will be exposed tomorrow afternoon (beginning at 16.30) in the information conference promoted by the culture department, which will be held in the council chamber of the Municipality of Macomer.

The superintendent for the provinces of Sassari and Nuoro, Bruno Billeci, the archaeological official Gianluigi Marras, Marco Milanese and Michele Guirguis of the University of Sassari, the archaeologists Luca Sanna (coordinator of the excavations) and Barbara Panico, curator of an exhibition will intervene.

«The latest archaeological investigations carried out in the area of the castle (south entrance of Macomer) - says the councilor for culture, Gianfranco Congiu - have made it possible to identify the monumental remains of the fortifications, their chronological definition and the understanding of the expoliation processes that affected the structures. It is therefore confirmed that this, the castle of Macomer, was the place of the highest order in the historic battle that took place in the valley below on 19 May 1478, in the area of Campu castigadu, where the Marquis Leonardo Alago was defeated by the Aragonese troops led by the viceroy Carroz».

The access door to the fortified village of Macomer emerged from the excavations, thanks to the discovery of its access structure.
