There is no possibility for diabetics (and not only) to carry out a cardiological examination and an electrocardiogram within the year. There is no availability in Macomer, but not even on the whole island. Interested parties must necessarily contact a private individual, for a fee. An expense which, however, many cannot afford.

The situation is therefore increasingly critical in the local social and healthcare system. In addition to the visits that cannot be done, there is a long wait to be able to carry out any specialist checks in the area. Many are sent to distant territories, or have to wait until the end of the year, when a new agenda of appointments will be made.

The serious situation was examined, together with some important questions, by the management of the committee for the defense of healthcare in the Marghine, with the presence of seven mayors, including that of Sindia and president of the Union of Municipalities, Franco Scanu, Rita Zaru (Noragugume), Silvia Cadeddu (Birori), Riccardo Uda (Macomer) and Nino Muroni (Dualchi).

"The activity of the movement - says the coordinator, Francesco Nieddu - will continue with continuous surveillance action and with the solicitation of urgent measures to deal with the emergency and to start the reorganization of the local health system on new bases".

During the meeting it was strongly underlined by the mayors and members of the committee that, with the new phase opening at regional level, certainly characterized by measures and implementation measures, we will be able to look at a reorganization of territorial healthcare. «Measures advocated by all political parties in the recent electoral campaign - it is written in a document - reiterated several times by the president-elect. The fundamental role of mayors in matters of the territorial social and health system must be reclaimed, as they are the highest managers of the sector at municipal level".

Questions regarding the functioning of the CUP, the creation of the Community House and the COT and Community Hospital were addressed. There is a commitment from the mayors to appoint the president of the socio-health committee of the Marghine district as soon as possible, to replace the resigning mayor of Birori, Silvia Cadeddu.
