Over sixty cars were removed from central Macomer, most of them abandoned, and were a disgrace even on the outskirts of the city. Local police continue their work to ensure and protect the environment and maintain order throughout the municipality, with the approval of the city administration. In recent days, yet another vehicle, parked for years in the square in front of the Marghine Archaeological Museum, was removed, this time in consultation with the State Property Agency.
Not only that. A tourist was also fined for abandoning some bags of garbage near the Santa Barbara nuraghe, close to the 131 highway . "Over the past year and a half, we've intervened on around sixty abandoned cars," says local police commander Alessandro Corrias. "The owners were identified and contacted, and almost all responded positively. Further inaction would have resulted in a certificate of abandonment and a fine of approximately €1,700 for cars. In addition to these checks on vehicles, we are also taking action against littering, with a €2,500 fine."
This is the case of a tourist who abandoned several bags of waste near the Santa Barbara nuraghe. Fines are therefore being increased, but many also risk imprisonment, with the confiscation of the vehicle used and the suspension of their driving license . "We urge everyone," says the commander, "not to underestimate the impact of the fines. We encourage you to use the urban waste collection network and, if necessary, request specific interventions through the municipal environmental office, the waste collection service provider. In Macomer, it should be emphasized, there is great environmental awareness. Our interventions often follow detailed reports, demonstrating a united community in defending its territory."
