A serious act of vandalism was committed during the night on the road leading to the tourist resort of Monte di Sant'Antonio.
An Enel electricity column was torn off and torn from its concrete base, at the edge of the road. This is the column that also supplies electricity to the little church of Sant'Antonio di Padova, located on top of the mountain of the same name.
The vandalism was committed during the night, probably by more than two people. They first forcefully tore down the column placed on a small concrete pillar, at the edge of the road and probably tried to take it away, also tearing out the electrical cables, therefore running the serious risk of being electrocuted.
The alarm was raised this morning by Enel technicians. The mayor, Riccardo Uda, condemned what happened in a post on social media. The mayor also joked, simply commenting on the vandalism with a "Happy Sunday to them too."
The column, in addition to powering the small church at the top of the mountain, frequented by Sunday visitors and where the big June festival takes place, also brings electricity to other public and private structures scattered throughout the mountain.
