Macchiareddu: A major fire erupts at a metal and electronic waste recycling facility, causing explosions and smoke.

Extensive damage and widespread fears have been caused in Macchiareddu, in the Uta area, by a large fire that broke out inside a company that recovers and recycles scrap metal and electronic waste.

The fire broke out around midnight and numerous firefighting teams are still working to finally put out the flames and prevent the blaze from re-erupting.

Several bangs and explosions were also heard, caused by the type of waste stored at the company . Once the firefighters have completed their work, it will be possible to quantify the damage and determine the nature of the fire.

The Carabinieri were also on site to carry out their investigations.
