Limbara water in the Alta Gallura water network
Work in progress to connect the unused Monti di Deu reservoir with the municipalities in the areaVideo di Andrea Busia
The water from the Monti di Deu reservoir in Tempio has never been used, almost four million cubic meters of an artificial basin that until now has only been cited as one of the great unfinished projects in the north-east of the island. But starting next summer the water could be released into the water network of the centers of Alta Gallura: Tempio, Aggius, Bortigiadas, Calangianus and Luras.
Today, the work (16 million euros) was reviewed on the construction site of the maxi pipeline connecting the Monte di Deu dam, with a new water purification plant and adduction works. This is the most important intervention underway in Sardinia in the drinking water sector.
The works started in Tempio in September last year are the result of close collaboration between the municipalities of Alta Gallura, the Government Body of the Sardinia Area (Egas), Adis and Abbanoa, manager of the regional integrated water service. The most important works under construction are also indicated: a new water purification plant in La Pischinaccia; recovery of the Limbara springs; 6.5 kilometers of new supply pipes with a diameter of 400 mm, which will connect the Monti di Deu dam to the water purification plant; a lifting station capable of relaunching up to 120 liters per second.
The work should make Alta Gallura autonomous, with water supply from Pattada only in emergency situations. In addition to the mayors of the area, Fabio Albieri, president of EGAS and Giuseppe Sardo, president of Abbanoa, were present in Tempio.
