On 25 and 26 October the general practitioners of the Italian Doctors Union (SMI) called a strike . This was announced by Luciano Congiu , regional secretary of the union.

«At the basis of the protest - he explains - there is the request for an overall debureaucratization of our work which allows us to dedicate more time to caring for and taking care of patients . We ask that we start from computerization with the optimization of the health record and the creation of the single regional catalog of prescriptions with the unification of the regional codes (currently there is a lack of homogeneity at a regional level and consequent organizational implications). We also demand the dematerialisation of prescriptions for all drugs and all prescriptions, with the possibility, for chronic therapies, of semi-annual/annual prescriptions, in order to make the work of the general practitioner easier".

Furthermore, Congiu continues, «in the wake of simplification we hope for the cancellation of return-to-school certificates, replaced by self-certification from parents and the simplification of the procedures for activating ADI and ADP home care and restoring the previous division of tasks for prescriptions of assistive devices. and principals".

«We are fighting – adds Congiu – to ensure that greater resources and reprogramming of funds for doctors' allowances are provided, since they are now insufficient to guarantee fair compensation to all doctors for the same activity. We demand the immediate payment of all allowances for services performed by general practitioners that have not yet been paid (for example, at ASL 8 the vaccines from the last vaccination campaign, the swabs and the weighting fund which have ceased have not yet been paid)".

«We demand – the conclusion – the adjustment and increase of compensation for those who hold disadvantaged and extremely disadvantaged positions , who are unable to reach the objectives to obtain further allowances».
