"The family categorically rules out Leonardo Mocci's involvement in illegal activities," according to Fabio Basile, the lawyer the 23-year-old's family has retained to closely monitor the investigation into the boy killed by a gunshot in Monserrato on the night of April 22-23.

"He was a young man known for being a great athlete and a hard worker," the lawyer continues, "he was completely unfamiliar with criminal circles and had never had any criminal record or problems with the law ." The young man's family is keen to point this out, rejecting the theory that his tragic disappearance was directly linked to illicit dealings. "He accompanied a friend who was in trouble and fearful, and who likely hadn't even told him the real problem," Basile added.

Meanwhile, the investigation is nearing a breakthrough. According to the investigation, Mocci accompanied a friend to Monserrato for a drug deal. But it was actually a deadly trap set up by unscrupulous robbers , and the 23-year-old allegedly paid with his life for trying to defend his attacked friend.
