Work has begun on State Road 131, where new LED lighting is underway between Porto Torres and Sassari, where traffic disruptions are expected until December 5th. This is the final phase of work initiated by ANAS to improve road safety and reduce energy consumption at the Carlo Felice interchanges. The €3.6 million project involves a total of six intersections along one of the busiest routes in Northern Sardinia.
The works will focus specifically on four strategic junctions: Caniga, at kilometer 212; the intersection of highway 131 and the bypass of state highway 291, at kilometer 216.7; Truncu Reale, at kilometer 222.1; and the access to provincial road 34 to Stintino, at kilometer 229.4. Here, the new lighting systems, designed to ensure greater visibility at night and in adverse weather conditions, will be completed and put into operation. To allow for the work, ANAS has planned a series of temporary road changes. The work will proceed in phases and may involve the closure of individual junction entry and exit ramps or localized roadway narrowing.
During the closures, alternative routes will be established, signposted on-site, to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and minimize disruption to motorists. This project is part of the energy efficiency and safety improvement program for the road network managed by ANAS. The new LED lighting will improve lighting at the state highway entrances and exits, where visibility is particularly important for safety, while also reducing energy consumption compared to traditional systems. Once completed, the new lighting will be operational at the affected junctions, improving travel conditions on the Carlo Felice highway, especially during the evening and nighttime hours.
