The Region allocates over 27 million euros to reduce water losses in Sardinia and to maintain service continuity, minimizing interruptions in water supply.

This was established by the Council led by Alessandra Todde, who also approved a resolution that allocates approximately 25 million to improve wastewater collection and treatment systems. Currently, the rates of water dispersion in municipal networks remain on average the highest in the entire national territory. According to Arera data for 2023, in fact, the Island exceeds 50% of dispersion from networks and aqueducts, with 35 municipalities at the top of the ranking involving 50% of the Sardinian population and 70% of the total losses.

"We intend", explained President Todde, " to give impetus to a series of urgent and priority interventions aimed at the overall adaptation and modernization of some water purification plants, at the same time characterized by significant infrastructural criticalities and serving significant catchment areas, to guarantee maximum safety in terms of qualitative and quantitative supply of the resource for drinking use, also in relation to the need to ensure the conformity of the water supplied to the quality parameters set by the relevant regulations".
