The water emergency in Capoterra isn't limited to mains outages. For months, and in some cases years, residents and businesses have been reporting problems with meters that can no longer handle the water pressure, causing leaks and, consequently, potential increases in consumption and bills.

Silvano Corda , a minority councilor, denounces the situation of the city's water service, managed by Abbanoa.

"Recently, I've been notified of several issues, particularly on Via Indipendenza and Via Vittorio Emanuele ," Corda explains. "The problems affect both private homes and businesses, including a bar. However, according to residents, the problem is much more widespread and affects various areas of the town, including housing developments. This situation fuels discontent: when it's not the water main that's broken, it's the utility meters that give way under the pressure, with water leaks that inevitably impact families and businesses."

In light of what's happening, Corda is calling for greater commitment from the Municipality and Abbanoa: "It would be appropriate to conduct a thorough inspection of the meters connected to the municipal water network, identifying those that are deteriorated or no longer adequate for operating conditions, and replacing them where necessary. The people of Capo d'Orlando pay extremely high bills and cannot tolerate this disservice any longer."
