The student Laura Ibba of the second A of the "Foiso Fois" artistic and musical high school in Cagliari came in fourth place at the national final of the "Giacomo Leopardi" literary prize, which took place in Recanati, in the birthplace of the poet from the Marche region.
An important recognition for all of Sardinia and for the "Foiso Fois" high school, which has always been at the forefront in offering good humanistic, musical and artistic education. Thus the student Laura Ibba, a lover of Italian poetry and literature, participated in the national final representing the whole of Sardinia in this prestigious literary prize. For the occasion she was accompanied by the literature teacher Samuela Mingoia, who oversaw the student's preparation with great attention and love for the poet from Recanati:
«It was an experience full of positivity, inspiration for growth and exchange of a culture that is not just notions but relationships between people and their lives. It was nice", says the teacher, "to see kids from every region of Italy talking about Leopardi compared to their questions about happiness. Laura also stood out for these human qualities: studying authors is beautiful because it helps you live. The student proved to be not only diligent but passionate, eager to appropriate the experience of great authors like Leopardi."
Laura Ibba reached the national final after winning the regional tests of the competition, and examined by the regional jury of Sardinia made up of teachers Gian Luigi Pittau (president of the commission and teacher of Italian language and literature), Luciano Aru and Maria Luisa Brodu. At the "Foiso Fois" artistic and musical high school in Cagliari, the head teacher, Professor Nicoletta Rossi, expressed her joy and satisfaction with the important result achieved by the student: "It is a very prestigious achievement - she explains - which testifies to the great space given to humanistic education in the artistic and musical high school of Cagliari".
In the regional test, student Laura Ibba competed with several students from different high schools in Sardinia but also professional institutes such as Meucci-Mattei, demonstrating that the love for literature is common to students of different study courses.
The regional jury is made up of professor Gian Luigi Pittau and professors Luciano Aru and Maria Luisa Brodu: «We are very honored and proud for Sardinia», explain the three members of the jury, «which also this year participated in the award and is managed to obtain a prestigious fourth place. Reading Giacomo Leopardi today, as well as for his encyclopaedic culture which in itself is fascinating, is of extreme importance because this man of letters has addressed topics that are still very current today and has asked himself ancestral questions that man has always asked himself and always will arise. Leopardi's thought not only needs to be rediscovered, but in many ways it is still to be discovered. Another good reason to read one of the greatest authors of our literature is to be against the grain like Leopardi himself, who has a lot to say to today's young people, but not only that. We must have the courage to turn our gaze beyond the hedge in search of the Infinite."
