A large fire has broken out in the Ozieri countryside, just a few hundred meters from the border with the Nughedu San Nicolò area. The fire, which broke out this afternoon between the villages of Donnighedda, Salighes, and Bavalzanis, has affected several homes, causing concern among residents of the area, one of the hardest-hit areas by the fires.

After several hours of ground operations coordinated by the Forestry Corps, involving teams from Forestas, Civil Protection, the Fire Brigade, and the Barracelli, with the support of a light helicopter that took off from the Anela base, the flames were extinguished, despite the wind pushing the flames close to homes.

It was necessary to strengthen the firefighting system with additional personnel and equipment. The director of firefighting operations at the Ozieri forestry station requested the deployment of a second aircraft, the twin-engine Super Puma helicopter, from the Alà dei Sardi base.

The affected areas are currently being remediated, with investigations underway to determine the cause of the fire. Arson has not been ruled out.
